What is the Weintraub Center?

Our Goal:

Returning quality of life to facial cancer and trauma survivors

Biomedical science now stands on the threshold of a newand uncharted era of discovery which promises to revolutionize the treatment of facial defects. Advances in stem cell biology, gene therapy and nanotechnology are increasing the likelehood that in the not-too-distant future we will be repairing the devastation caused by birth defects, cancer, or trauma by regenerating skin, bone, and soft tissue. The impact of such an achievement will be remarkable and far-reaching.

Stem cells have the potential to become any type of tissue or organ. Our challenge is to control the size and shape of these structures and obtain functionally acceptable bio-properties.

The Weintraub Center is dedicated to making this goal a reality. By vastly improving the quality of life for countless individuals who suffer from the ravages of disfigurement, the Weintraub Center has achieved international recognition for its renowned ongoing contributions to biomedical research and patient care.
